Today Apple released a new version of iLife and iWork. They skipped ‘07 and went right to ‘08. (Just like the car companies, making ‘08 models way before ‘08)

Seeing as I just bought my MacBook Pro, I think it is kind of unfair that I need to pay $79 for a new version of iLife. So, I called up my local Apple Store, the one I bought the MacBook Pro from. They said that I could just return the MacBook Pro, but then I realized that there is a 10% restocking fee, and thats way more than the cost of iLife 08. I explained this to the guy on the phone, and he agreed that it did not make sense. He put me on hold and checked to see what he could do. After listening to Apples hold music for a few minutes he came back on the phone. “I just talked to my manager, and we can waive the restocking fee”. Ok, I replied. And I got off the phone.

I thought to my self, its going to be so much work to back up all my stuff and move it again (I did this when I got the MacBook Pro). So I am a bit caught right now, Should I return it, or should I just buy the new version? I am going to talk with apple a bit later and see what they can do.

Update:

I when to the apple store that night with my MacBook Pro in hand. They said that all they need to do is return the MBP, put it on a giftcard, and buy the MBP back. Then they remove $9.95 US from it, and you go to http://apple.com/ilife/uptodate/. For $9.95 you order iLife 08 and they ship it to your house. I did this whole proces and it worked. I am now just waiting on my shipment.
