ive just had this happen to my coreduo 2.16 15in macbook pro. sadly i diddnt get apple care. but this is shocking!!. i had a second hand 12in powerbook (which was about 3/4 years old when i finished with it) and was held together with ducktape because the welds were falling apart. but this was in about 3+ years of constant moveing around and droping. i have never droped my MBP and have had it just over 2 years

also im haveing problems with my super drive, gunk behind the screen

but if i were you milk the apple care for everything you can!!!

SImilar problems with case separation and black dots. Sorry for the bad quality, taken with my iPhone :P

Here's a picture of the case separation (a bit exaggerated to show how loose it is):

And here's a picture of the black dots:

I'm not under AppleCare, so there's nothing I can do about it.

I concur with Emory. Take it to the store. If you have Leopard back it up with Time Machine first. Take it to the store when it is busy, especially when there are other potential buyers around. There is a website that shows how to take apart the laptop. Go to it and look at the pictures. It will show you the little tab that is broken.

Personally I would go to the Apple Store, don't wait on hold for ages trying to get someone who may or may not be able to help you.

Meh, every Mac will have a problem eventually... Mention it to Apple if you really want, I'd post on the Discussion Forums to see how many others are having the same problem though. Some things we just need to suck up :/
